These Cam Operated Contactor Controller have got contacts in the shape of magnetic contactors. These Contacts are closed & opened mechanically by operating and external handle of the crank type. These are intended for control of steelworks Cranes. Furnace Charging Equipment, Colliery Haulages, both direct & endless Electric winders, and Coal Grabs, Driven motors may be of the A.C slip ring induction type or D.C.Series-wound type, with switching sequence selected for specific schemes.

Arc Shields:

• A mechanical knock-off device on the stator lines or power lines ensures positive contact opening.
• Main Stator Contacts heating to a minimum in case of A.C. Controller. All the contacts of a D.C Controller are provided with blow-out coils, adopted for D.C services motor.
• Contact tips would be easily replaceable. Contact wear is minimal due to the absence of sliding as in a Drum Controller, where finger contacts slide on a segment on the Drum. This is the most fundamental difference between the drum controller and a cam-operated contactor controller.
